Privacy Policy
Our Stance
While registered political parties are generally exempt from the Privacy Act 1988, the ARP believes in better practice. We respect your data and your right to privacy.
Data We Collect
- Information you provide via our membership or volunteer forms (Name, Email, Address).
- Electoral Roll data as permitted by the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918.
- Standard web server logs for pages you visit: the page address, the time, your IP address, your browser's user-agent, and the city and region your connection resolves to. We use these to keep the site working and to identify automated scraping.
We do not run advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not fingerprint your browser.
How We Use It
We collect data solely for the purpose of political communication, membership verification, and party administration. We do not sell your data to third parties.
How Long We Keep It
Visitor log detail is removed on a schedule. It is not deleted by hand or kept until someone remembers to look at it.
- Your IP address and city are erased from a visit record after 90 days. For logged-in members, after 12 months.
- The broader region and country are erased after 13 months.
- Records of failed logins and attacks on the site are kept for 12 months, because the address is the evidence.
- We keep counts of how many visits came from each city on each day. Those totals carry no address and identify nobody, so we keep them.
Membership records are kept for as long as you are a member, and afterwards only where the law requires it.
